We decided to forgo our original plan of going to Puno, because of the limited options getting there and the length of time it was going to take. Instead, we decided to stay for 3 days in Urubamba located in the Sacred Valley, halfway between Machu Picchu and Cusco. We stayed at a beautiful resort, Tambo del Inka, along the Urubamba River. It was nice to unwind and relax, after all of the walking we had done in Machu Piccu.
The town and Plaza de Armas was walking distance from our hotel, and we enjoyed sitting on the benches, watching the locals, kids and dogs. They had a large open air market, filled with local fruits and veggies, and quaint restaurants and cafes. It was a perfect little getaway.
On Friday, we were driven to Cusco over the mountain range, about 1 1/2 hour drive over the mountain range, for our flight to Arequipa, our final stop of our Peruvian adventure.
