Today was our first full day and it was full of many events …

We had breakfast at our hotel then off we went to our first city tout, Montmartre food and wine tour. We took the metro, which has been a learning experience with so many options but the ease of getting everywhere is great, and went to our spot to meet up with the tour at 11. But there was no one else there. Come to find out we were supposed to be there at 10:30. Luckily we called and they were able to reschedule us for Sunday. Since we were in this part of the city we decided to sightsee around.

Saw the Moulin. Rouge and then began walking up hill to the famous church Sacre de Cour. We finally made it and what a sight. It sits high above the city and the view of Paris was amazing. Inside and out it was gorgeous.

We decided to go to Norte Dame next but we needed to use the restroom so we were directed to a small park behind the church.

It was a single toilette and there were 6 people ahead of us so we decided to wait. Little did we know that only one person goes in at a time. Then once they were done, which varied depending on the person, the door automatically closes and it washes the whole unit and the floor for several minutes. Then the next person goes in. Needless to say a good 40 minutes later we had gone to the bathroom and were ready to go to our next stop. The plus side – this was the cleanest and most sanitary public restroom I had ever been in, but I would take a porta potty any day especially when you are on a time crunch. Live and learn as they say …

Once we were on our way and we figured out which metro line to take we found ourselves at Norte Dame. Words can not explain the beauty, grandeur and majesty of this church.

After seeing the inside of the church, we decided to take a personal 1-hour tour on a Paris tuk-tuk. It was great seeing the cafe Picasso and Hemingway ate at in St Germaine, the famous Opera House and where Marie Antoinette was beheaded at the Concorde.

After our tour we went to the Orsay Museum, famous for it’s collection of Impressionist paintings. We saw works by Van Gogh, Cezanne, Renoir and my favorite of all time Monet.

Today was a day of misadventures but with those we saw some beautiful sights…

Bonne Nuit
