Today we visited the Larco Museum. It was a beautiful experience and we saw artifacts from ancient Peru and learned so much about Incan History. The collection of pre-Colombian Incan artifacts at this museum is one of the largest in the world. With pieces from each of the separate ancient regions of Peru it is an impressive collection.
Here are some examples of adornments made of gold and silver worn by Incan elite from 800-1400 AD.
This museum was founded by Peruvian archaeologist Rafael Larco Hoyle in 1926. It had beautiful grounds and lovely gardens.
One of the most amazing areas in the museum were the Visible Storage rooms. Filled with 30,000 pieces of ancient pottery all cataloged and recorded.
We decided to ask the locals where they eat lunch nearby and After our museum visit, we walked through the neighborhoods about 20 minutes and found Antigua Taberna Queirolo, a family owned restaurant which has been round since 1880. We knew the minute we saw a long line of locals outside, it must be a good place. And it was. Ravi got his ceviche, me pollo saltado and of course pisco sours for us both.
At the end of the day we went back to our district, Miraflores and walked along the coast back to our hotel.
