Today Lauren, Leslie and myself surprised Elsi with a day trip to Paris. We met Robert & Mary there for the day, took in some of the sights and traveled there via the ‘chunnel’ under the English Channel. We took the first train out of London and enjoyed a nice breakfast. Before we knew it we were in picturesque France with fresh fallen snow on the ground.
After our 2 hour ride, we got to Paris Gard du Nord station, and hopped on a Metro to take us to the Eiffel Tower where Robert and Mary were waiting for us.
We hopped on a Seine River Cruise, and went past Notre Dame, the Louvre and many beautiful buildings and went under famous bridges.
Robert & May made reservations for lunch at a quaint bistro at the Louvre. We took the Metro a few stops and then had to walk the rest of the way there in the rain.
After lunch, the four of had to go back to catch our train back to London. As we were getting ready to hop on our final train, Elsi and I got separated form the rest of the group. As I got on the train holding Elsi’s hand, the doors closed, and her arm got caught between the train and platform doors. Luckily Robert and another gentleman got her arm out, but I was on the train by myself and everyone else were on the platform. Luckily we had our cell phones and Lauren was able to tell me where to go. Needless to say, this was the FIANL subway train Elsi rode on this trip….
Once we got back on the train to Paris, we enjoyed a light meal and glass of wine, which we all need at this point. We did enjoy our day and the girls were excited to see Paris for their first time.
