Today was not only our last day in Nice, but our final day of our 3-week vacation in this amazing country. It was also very ironic that 2 weeks ago we visited and walked through Notre Dame cathedral, and last night we watched in horror as it was burning. It was heartbreaking and we could not believe it.
We went back to old town Nice, had some breakfast and wandered through their open air market. Then we visited the Colline du Château, high above the city. Its was built as a fort in ancient times and has archaeological finds dating back to the Romans. It was a medieval castle in the 18th century. The top had numerous green spaces and playgrounds. As well as awesome views of both sides of the society and a huge waterfall.
Once we made our way down to the bottom, we found a bar along the beach, Waka Bar, owned by a New Zealander. We had some cocktails and fish and chips.
We went back to our hotel, packed and then went out to dinner and strolled along the Mediterranean one last time.
As we say Au Revoir to France , we have enjoyed the food, wine, people, culture and memories. Looking forward to another adventure, soon.
