Today we took a train about a half hour outside of Paris to Disneyland Paris. It was an easy ride and easy to know which train to take, follow the kids with Disney attire and backpacks. There are 2 parks right next door to one another, Disney Hollywood studios and the original Disney Paris.
We started at the studios park since it was much smaller. The only ride we did there was the Ratatouille ride, based off the movie. We rode little vehicles shaped like rats and you felt like Remi running through the kitchens being chased. It was fun and entertaining. Then we walked around the park. At Toy Story land there was towering Buzz Lighthear, who spoke French at the entrance. They had an Avengers themed area and a few other rides based off movies – Crush’s Coaster, Flying Carpet’s ride to name a few.
We then walked next door to Disneyland Paris. The entrance was beautiful with flowers and totally disneyesque. We walked onto Main Street and it felt just like home just a bit smaller in scale but the street was wider. Sleeping beauty’s castle was beautiful. I walked through it. It had huge stained glass windows and tapestries depicting the classic story.
We walked through Tomorrowland to fantasyland. Rode Its a small world which was just like ours just shorter in length. Then had some lunch. They had some fantastic restaurants and quick service restaurants throughout both parks. They even had three all you can eat buffet styles and one was morrocan themed in Adventureland. We rode pirates of the carribean which was similar but a bit different, their Jack Sparrow spoke French too. It was great. There was a Frontierland with thunder mountain and haunted mansion. I looked at what type of different snacks they had – beignets, and crepes, but they had the classic popcorn and cotton candy too.
After a bit of shopping on Main Street we headed back to the train station. When we got back we went to the restaurant we ate at our first night. Our waiter was the same guy so he was happy to see us again. I had French onion soup and steak, dad bone marrow and duck. We took our time enjoying our last dinner in Paris. As I finish up tonight’s blog I am sad to say good-bye tomorrow. I’ve always been told that French hate Americans and are rude. We never encountered anything like that. Everyone we came across was welcoming and helpful. And the food was affordable too. This was a beautiful, busy and historic city and I hope one day I will be able to return.
